The
CIBC World Markets Children's Miracle Day
In Canada, the
CIBC World Markets Children's Miracle Day is the largest
one-day corporate fundraising event devoted to
children's charities. It is a global one-day
fundraising event that donates all fees and
commissions earned that day to a variety of
children's charitable organizations in their respective areas.
Miracle Day
happens on the first Wednesday of each December.
For the duration of the market trading hours around the
globe, all CIBC World Markets offices participate in
The Children's Miracle, including all CIBC Wood
Gundy offices in Canada, as well as CIBC World Markets
offices in the United States, Europe and Asia.
In Canada, the
Children's Aid Foundation in Toronto
manages the
CIBC World Markets Children's Miracle Fund,
and in 2005, and again this year have provided a grant of $10,000 to the
Children's Aid Society of Halifax Foundation.
What does
CIBC World Markets Children's Miracle Fund provide?
The Little
Things
Sometimes,
especially in the life of a child, it is the little
things that can make a big difference in their
lives. That trip to summer
camp, karate, dancing, singing and music lessons, swimming
classes, registration for athletic teams, school trips
or a
chance for a family to attend a special event together.
Maybe a new pair of skates, a basketball, a baseball
glove, a new bathing suite or dance skin, art supplies,
some new clothes for graduation day........ For many families struggling to
get by the costs of these little extras can be just too
prohibitive, especially when there are siblings.
What CIBC World
Markets really provides for children are opportunities to
succeed at something and to just have fun.
The thrill of learning to ride a new bike, hitting a
baseball, going off the diving board for the first time,
performing in a dance or music recital, paddling a canoe
without tipping it over, singing around the
campfire.....all building blocks of self esteem and a
child's feelings of self worth.

Children's Aid Society of Halifax and the families and
children we serve, the Foundation would like to say a very genuine

Halifax Launch
of Children's Miracle Fund
The CIBC Wood
Gundy office in Halifax hosted a reception to launch
this initiative on December 13th, 2004. Several
children accompanied by their moms and the President and
some staff of the Children's Aid Society of Halifax were
greeted with balloons and given a great lunch. And
there were presents too! The staff at CIBC
Wood Gundy presented the children with gifts that
brought big smiles of delight to their faces.
The gifts were
truly symbolic of the intent of the Children's Miracle
Fund with items such as a pair of skates and a soccer
ball. All of the children were very happy
with their presents, especially those awesome pens.
